TREATMENT OF MALOCCLUSION OF THE TEETH AND FRACTURES OF THE MAXILLE./
ANGLE'S SYSTEM.To achieve a perfect fit in transpalatais bars, bows and lingual palatal expansion devices are required to transfer models with 100% accuracy. When the doublet do not fit, orthodontists and technicians are blaming each other. The problem is always the transfer of the band for the model. Aquaform solve this problem easily and consistently.
Many orthodontists simply put the bands on molars of alginate impression. Other place wax or wire in alginate to maintain the position of the band. These techniques are wrong, because the bands often move when the printing is passed to the gypsum. An excellent technique used to transfer previously employed a combination of views. But while this idea was good, the combination was often fragile and fractured, preventing the model.
Replace this impression by the techniques of Aquaform fragile, and a reference material with higher risk of fracture zero. Step 7 shows the perfect combination of band x Aquaform, where the alginate impression is accurate and no additional retention method is used
Instructions for use:
1. Set well with the bands already welded tubes

2. Aquaform Place in hot water (not boiling,
about 80 ? C) for 20 seconds. Remove and crush it with the
fingers until the color is uniform

3. Press the Aquaform on the tube, the occlusal surface,
about the band, lingual surface. Use jet of air to cool

4. Mold with alginate.

5. Remove the type of alginate. The Aquaform remain
the bands in the teeth of the patient

6. The bands covered by Aquaform are easily removed
teeth as a single unit

7. The bands covered by Aquaform are settled with
accuracy in the model of alginate without restraint
Additional

8. From the model made the model of alginate
transfer

9. Put the type of transfer with the bands
covered with Aquaform in a bowl with 2.5 cm of
very hot water for 20 seconds. Remove from Aquaform
bands

10. The Aquaform was removed from the bands. The bands are
perfectly positioned in the model of transfer

11. Mount and / or solder your support (transpalatal bar) in
transferência.a model

12. The bar fits perfectly in the teeth.

HOTS
T. Ikegami DDS, MS Kumamoto, Japan
Hybrid Orthodontic Treatment System (HOTS) has been developed in the search of the most efficient and reliable treatment system by combining the following 3 orthodontic devices or methods which were developed independently with different treatment concepts.
1. Micro Implant Anchorage (MIA)
2. Combination wire
3. Multi-loop Edgewise Arch-wire (MEAW)
The most important feature of this system, compared with the conventional en-masse retraction in which 6 anteriors are retracted together, is that in this technique the canines are retracted along the corner curve of the canine area independently from the other 4 incisors. These 6 anteriors, however, are still retracted simultaneously. In this way, the canines can travel along the alveolar trough between the cortical bones. On the other hand, with the conventional en masse movement, canines may easily hit the lingual cortical bone as it is retracted straight backwards. Thus the distal movement of the 6 anteriors may not be as smooth as with the HOTS thereby causing more damage to the anterior teeth as well as to the lingual alveolar bone, which will result in extended treatment time.
HOTS Treatment Procedure
Step1. Extraction of bicuspids and insertion of MIA in one visit
Step2. Leveling with the .0155 or .0175 multi-stranded wire and the .016 Ti-Ni wire with “lace-back” retraction of the canines followed by final alignment with .016 x .022 Ti-Ni wire
Step3. Simultaneous retraction of canines, as well as 4 incisors, with combination (.017x.025 rectangular and .016 round) wire
Step4. Finalization with the MEAW (.016 x .022 Stainless steel wire)

Radiographic Cephalometry: From Basics to Videoimaging
Radiographic Cephalometry: From Basics to 3-D Imaging, Second Edition
Alexander Jacobson, Richard L. Jacobson
Digitization of photographs, radiographs, and cephalometry has radically transformed the practice of clinical orthodontics. This important textbook, widely regarded as the definitive source on radiographic cephalometry, has now been updated and expanded to reflect these emerging technologic innovations. In addition to covering basic principles - including manual tracing techniques, landmark identification, and the traditional cephalometric analyses - this new edition describes the numerous applications of digital radiography, digital radiographic cephalometry, and 3-D cephalometric analysis for enhanced accuracy and efficiency in diagnosis and outcome prediction. Eight completely new chapters have been added on the advantages and drawbacks of 2-D versus 3-D analysis; the use of imaging in treatment planning; the value of electronic storage, analysis, and retrieval of all records; anteroposterior cephalometry; the first 3-D cephalometric analysis; and more. An accompanying CD-ROM containing a reproducible headfilm and templates, both for manual and digital cephalometry, as well as sample video clips is included with every book. This comprehensive text is ideal for both students and experienced professionals who wish to ******* and/or update their understanding of this subject.

Editorial Reviews
Book Description
An entirely new text explaining the functional-fixed approach to Class II orthodontic treatment! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
Product Description
From an award-winning author, this concise and visual guide describes the two-phase treatment approach to the orthodontic management of children with uncrowded Class II division one malocclusion. In this widely accepted treatment method, a bionator (Andresen) appliance is used in phase one, followed in phase two by high quality preadjusted fixed appliances. Properly managed, and with correct case selection and timing, this system of treatment produces high-quality results, and can be the easiest route to a successful outcome in many patients.
- A new book by one of the most successful orthodontics authors in the world which offers a concise and easily assimilated account of the treatment of an important group of orthodontic patients.
- Describes the two phase treatment approach - a functional appliance in phase one, and the latest and best in bracket and wire technology in phase two. This produces consistently high-quality results and is the easiest route to an ideal outcome in many patients.
- Stage by stage case histories enhance the reader's understanding of the system.
- Lavishly illustrated with top-quality colour photographs and line diagrams.
- Has a focus on methods of optimising patient cooperation, a topic which is often overlooked.
- Discusses difficult situations where growth or cooperation levels are below expectations.
